From Kennedy Airport (JFK) to Poughkeepsie
Airtrain + Subway
Take Airtrain ($8.25) to the subway, and the subway ($2.75) to Grand Central.
- Pick up your luggage at the baggage claim.
- Follow signs for the Airtrain (outside across the street). Take the Airtrain to the Jamaica Station and get off.
- Walk straight ahead and you will find pay machines on right. Pay by purchasing a Metro Card. You should add $1 (for card), $8.25 for airtrain and $2.75 for E train.
- Take Airtrain to Jamaica station. Get off and follow signs for E Train toward Manhattan (to the left, end of hall, down elevator). Use your card to go through turnstile. Get on E train.
- Get off at Lexington Ave./53 St. (about 40 minutes)
- Follow signs for the number 6 downtown (Green line).
- Take the number 6 train 1 stop, to 42nd/Grand central terminal.
- Go upstairs and walk toward Grand Central Terminal. It is a large open area with an information booth in the center & clock on top (the level above the restaurants). Look for a small room on the left that has blue machines that sell train tickets. Or go to a window. Purchase a ticket for the Metro North train to Poughkeepsie ($19.25 off-peak or $25.75 peak). (Schedule and fare) Depending on the time of day, some trains to Poughkeepsie are direct. Some go halfway making the passengers change to another train to get to Poughkeepsie. Try to get a direct train to Poughkeepsie.
- Check the screens for the track number. Then go to the track and get on the train. During your ride, call the contact person and let them know what time your train arrives in Poughkeepsie.
- When you arrive at the train station in Poughkeepsie, go upstairs and into the station. Look for the designated person who will pick you up. If you don’t see him/her, call the contact person again to get more information.
